Tarangire National Park

One of the lesser-known national parks of Tanzania, Tarangire is rich in terms of wildlife diversity. But, Tarangire is an ideal safari destination for travelers who want to see more wildlife and less of the crowd. 

The Tarangire national park is situated in the northern circuit of Tanzania. It is named after the river Tarangire which flows across the park and is a major source of water for the animals inside the park. It’s the best place in Tanzania to spot huge herds of elephants.

  • The Tarangire National Park is an amazing birding and wildlife safari destination. With an excess of 500 species of birds, the park offers an immense variety for bird watchers. 
  • Both local birds and migrant species are present in the Tarangire national park. Some of the birds present are ostriches, francolins, barbets, hornbills, yellow-collared birds, bee-eaters, eagles, and many others. 
  • The incredible, huge baobab trees make the landscape of Tarangire one–of–a–kind. It makes the area naturally beautiful and is a must-see attraction for most tourists.
  • Different wildlife species which can be sighted here in the park include lions, leopards, gemsbok, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, gazelles, buffalos, antelopes, rhinos, and buffalos. 

 

The Tarangire national park is famed for having herds of up to 300 elephants.

  • Game Drives are offered in the morning, in the afternoon, or in the evening to explore a variety of wildlife species inside the park. 

Full-day game drives are also available and you can drive around the national park for the whole day. 

  • Taking nature walks in the national park gives a chance to take a closer look at the natural surroundings filled with fat baobab trees.
